Campus Hazing Transparency Report

UC Davis is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive campus community. In keeping with state and federal requirements, the university will publicly share findings of hazing violations involving any student organization. The Campus Hazing Transparency Report includes each incident involving a student organization for which a finding of responsibility is issued relating to a hazing violation, including:

  • The name of such student organization;
  • A general description of the violation that resulted in a finding of responsibility, including:
    • whether the violation involved the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs,
    • the findings of the institution and
    • any sanctions placed on the student organization by the institution, as applicable; and
  • The dates on which:
    • The incident was alleged to have occurred
    • The investigation into the incident was initiated
    • The investigation ended with a finding that a hazing violation occurred and
    • The institution provided notice to the student organization that the incident resulted in a hazing violation.
  • The Campus Hazing Transparency report cannot include personally identifiable information.

More information regarding University hazing policies and procedures can be found in the 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. Hazing statistics for 2025 will be included in the 2026 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, which will be published in late September, 2026.

2025-26: Alpha Gamma Rho

  • Incident description: New initiates were subjected to and forced to participate in abusive and degrading conduct including: 
    • being struck with a dead animal;
    • kidnapping;
    • paddling;
    • sleep deprivation;
    • scavenger hunts with offensive tasks;
    • theft of street signs;
    • recitation of sexually explicit and offensive Chapter songs and chants;
    • manual labor with inadequate tools;
    • forced nakedness;
    • forced wearing of women’s undergarments; and
    • forced consumption of noxious foods, alcohol, and other substances.
  • Did the incident involve the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs? Yes. Abuse of alcohol.
  • Investigation findings: Violation of the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, Section 102.12 (Hazing).
  • Sanction: Revocation of registration, effective March 18, 2026. The organization is eligible to re-apply for registration March 18, 2031.
  • Date(s) the incident(s) occurred: January 4, 2026
  • Date of investigation initiation: January 13, 2026
  • Date investigation completed: March 18, 2026
  • Date the student organization was informed of the investigation outcome and sanction: March 18, 2026

2025-26: Beta Chi Theta

  • Incident description: Fraternity members wore masks, yelled at, and shot new members of another organization with toy guns.
  • Did the incident involve the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs? No.
  • Investigation findings: Violation of the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, Section 102.12 (Hazing).
  • Sanction: Disciplinary Probation, effective April 10, 2026, through June 12, 2026. Required hazing training.
  • Date(s) the incident(s) occurred: November 13, 2025
  • Date of investigation initiation: January 26, 2026
  • Date investigation completed: April 10, 2026
  • Date the student organization was informed of the investigation outcome and sanction: April 10, 2026

2025-26: Empowered Arab Sisterhood – Epsilon Alpha Sigma

  • Incident description: New members were driven to an unknown location, shot with toy guns by masked individuals while being tested, and subjected to sleep deprivation.
  • Did the incident involve the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs? No.
  • Investigation findings: Violation of the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, Section 102.12 (Hazing).
  • Sanction: Disciplinary Probation, effective April 7, 2026, through June 12, 2026. Required hazing training and workshop on welcoming new members to their organization.
  • Date(s) the incident(s) occurred: November 13 and 14, 2025
  • Date of investigation initiation: January 26, 2026
  • Date investigation completed: April 7, 2026
  • Date the student organization was informed of the investigation outcome and sanction: April 7, 2026

2025-26: alpha Kappa Delta Phi

  • Incident description: New members were forced to consume alcohol.
  • Did the incident involve the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs? Yes. Illegal use of alcohol.
  • Investigation findings: Violation of the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, Sections 102.12 (Hazing) and 102.18.A (Prohibited manufacture, sale, or distribution of alcohol).
  • Sanction: Conditional Registration, effective January 2, 2026, through December 11, 2026, with option to host one non-alcohol social event Fall quarter 2026. Required hazing training, alcohol education workshop, group discussion about hazing, president reflection paper, and one check-in meeting with Student Conduct.
  • Date(s) the incident(s) occurred: Late May 2025
  • Date of investigation initiation: December 8, 2025
  • Date investigation completed: February 17, 2026
  • Date the student organization was informed of the investigation outcome and sanction: February 17, 2026

2025-26: Phi Delta Epsilon

  • Incident description: New members were subjected to:
    • yelling,
    • assignment of demerits,
    • required greetings, and
    • forced study hours.
  • Did the incident involve the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs? No.
  • Investigation findings: Violation of the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, Sections 102.12 (Hazing).
  • Sanction: Conditional Registration effective January 15, 2026 through March 29, 2026 and completion of StandUp to Hazing course.
  • Date(s) the incident(s) occurred: Spring Quarter 2025.
  • Date of investigation initiation: May 15, 2025.
  • Date investigation completed: January 15, 2026.
  • Date the student organization was informed of the investigation outcome and sanction: January 15, 2026.

2025-26: Chi Phi

  • Incident description: New members were paddled and forced to consume alcohol.
  • Did the incident involve the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs? Yes. Illegal use of alcohol.
  • Investigation findings: Violation of the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, Sections 102.12 (Hazing) and 102.18.A (Prohibited manufacture, sale, or distribution of alcohol).
  • Sanction: Revocation of registration as a Registered Student Organization, effective December 11, 2025. The organization is eligible to re-apply for registration at the end of Fall Quarter 2030.
  • Date(s) the incident(s) occurred: Spring Quarter 2024 and Spring Quarter 2025
  • Date of investigation initiation: November 17, 2025
  • Date investigation completed: December 11, 2025
  • Date the student organization was informed of the investigation outcome and sanction: December 11, 2025

2025-26: Alpha Gamma Rho

  • Incident description: New initiates were subjected to:
    • drinking games,
    • chanting/singing,
    • blindfolding, and
    • physical activity during a Big Brother reveal event.
  • Did the incident involve the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs? Yes. Abuse use of alcohol.
  • Investigation findings: Violation of the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, Section 102.12 (Hazing)
  • Sanction: Conditional Registration effective November 21, 2025, through June 12, 2026, with option to host one non-alcohol social event in Spring quarter 2026. Required apology letter, hazing training, and philanthropic event to benefit a non-profit organization, charity, corporation, or woman-owned business that provides assistance and support to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or sex trafficking.
  • Date(s) the incident(s) occurred: October 22, 2025
  • Date of investigation initiation: November 4, 2025
  • Date investigation completed: November 21, 2025
  • Date the student organization was informed of the investigation outcome and sanction: November 21, 2025

2025-26: Chi Delta Theta

  • Incident description: New member was forced to consume alcohol.
  • Did the incident involve the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs: Yes, illegal use of alcohol.
  • Investigation findings: Violation of the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, Sections 102.12 (Hazing) and 102.18.A (Prohibited manufacture, sale, or distribution of alcohol).
  • Sanctions: Revocation of registration as a Registered Student Organization, effective November 3, 2025.  The organization is eligible to re-apply for registration at the beginning of Fall Quarter 2030.
  • Date(s) the incident(s) occurred: Late May 2025 and June 14, 2025
  • Date of investigation initiation: September 12, 2025
  • Date investigation completed: November 3, 2025
  • Date the student organization was informed of the investigation outcome and sanction: November 3, 2025
